International Law and Policy Internship

Your mission

We are seeking highly motivated Interns/Young Professionals to join the CyberPeace Institute for 3-6 months to support the work of the Public Policy team to advance international law and norms and promote responsible behavior in cyberspace. 

Successful candidates will conduct cross-disciplinary research and analysis aimed at assessing the current ecosystem of international laws and norms as applied to cyberspace, as well as projects related to the measurement of harm and impact of cyberattacks. Through analysis, research and engagement the successful candidate will assist the Institute in its goal to develop and promote research and policy positions, and update its public platforms.

Your profile

Your Responsibilities

Under the leadership of the Chief Public Policy Officer, the Intern/Young Professional will work with cyber policy experts and other specialists to:

  • Research and analyze the current legal and normative landscape;     

  • Support the development and promotion of strategic analysis reports, research papers, blogs, and other knowledge works;  

  • Track and analyze developments in cyber and internet governance at the international and regional levels;

  • Perform additional tasks in support of the Institute, across various teams, projects and initiatives.     


Your Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • A proven track record in relevant research methods;

  • Demonstrated critical analysis and writing skills, including through publications in blogs, academic journals, presentations international law and policy (i.e. cyber norms, International Humanitarian Law, International Human Rights Law, etc.);

  • Experience in working with data analysis and visualization is an asset; 

  • Ability to create and foster relationships with stakeholders; 

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment at the international level;

  • Meticulous attention to detail, diligent, and able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including for reporting findings and conveying complex legal and policy positions;

  • Strong team spirit and enjoy working in teams composed of people from different fields and backgrounds. 

Additional Information

  • Mandatory for Interns: tripartite internship convention/agreement between the student, the University and our Institute

  • Working rate: part-time or full-time (ideally)

  • Starting date: anytime

  • Location: Geneva and/or remote (depending on the legislation in your country of residence
