Internship: Strategic Foresight & Emerging Technologies

Intern / Student, Full-time · Geneva or The Hague, or full-remote (CET timezone)

Your mission

You will support the Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer in developing the strategic narrative of the Institute and designing programs to address the challenges posed by emerging technologies to cybersecurity and digital resilience (e.g. Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, etc). In addition, you will support the internal development of AI capabilities and the fundraising efforts to support the workstreams related to emerging technologies through the assessment, review, and application to grant proposals.

Your Objectives & Contributions
  • Strategic Research & Analysis: Conduct research on emerging technology trends and threats, specifically on AI and Quantum Computing,  and their societal and policy implications. Prepare insights and briefings to inform strategic planning and support program development.

  • Threat Anticipation: support the analysis of emerging technological threats, with a focus on AI and Quantum Computing, forecasting their potential impact on cybersecurity and global governance.

  • Partnership Building: assist in developing collaborations with stakeholders across academia, civil society, and the public and private sectors to develop evidence-based policy positions and research proposals.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: assist in identifying, assessing, and engaging with potential partners and donors. Contribute to drafting concept notes, proposals, and reports that resonate with external partners and funders.

  • Database & CRM Management: Maintain and update key databases, ensuring information on donors and partners is accurate and current.

Your Experience, Skills & Attribute
  • Studies in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data and Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Computer Security (preferably Master of Sciences), International Relations, or a related field with a focus on emerging technologies;

  • Knowledge of AI, quantum computing, cybersecurity principles, and data science, with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical ideas.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, especially in translating technical information for diverse audiences.

  • Fluency in English and French, spoken and written;

  • Knowledge of full MS Office Package;

  • The following requirements are an asset:

    • Data collection, analysis and reporting 

    • Demonstrated commitment to work in NGOs - not for profit sector

    • Knowledge of creation of concept notes/proposals/applications for funding/collaborative purposes.
